Forcing everyone to listen to interesting speakers? The horrors of it all! You should definitely do this. It will very clearly make your event suck.
One of the principles at FSCONS is that the speakers are also participants of the event. We don't invite anyone to speak at FSCONS if they also don't participate as a.. well, participant. It's always a balance, but we try. So in a way, we try to invite people to participants. And sometimes, a participants takes to the front of the room and says something interesting. We encourage that!
